Upgrading Footsteps to EYFS 2021 Guidance

Upgrading Footsteps to EYFS 2021 Guidance

Is there anything I need to do before I can upgrade to the new EYFS guidance?

Before switching to the new Development Matters guidance we recommend that any draft observations and assessments are completed or deleted, and any observations and assessments that are currently awaiting approval are reviewed and either approved or rejected. Additionally, we recommend that any outstanding next steps are converted into observations or deleted.

Any observations or assessments that are still in draft status or awaiting approval and any outstanding next steps will become read-only after you upgrade to the new EYFS guidance.

How do I upgrade to the new EYFS guidance?
Please note: Only users with a user code 1 account will be able to upgrade Footsteps to the new EYFS guidance.
We have added an 'Upgrade' button to enable you to upgrade your Footsteps system to the new EYFS guidance at a time which is convenient to you.

When you click on the 'Upgrade' button an alert will be displayed. The alert will show you a list of any observations and/or assessments that are saved as drafts or that are awaiting approval. For example:

If you decide that you need more time to sort out your data before upgrading, simply click on the 'Not right now' option in the bottom left-hand corner of the alert. There is no time limit to upgrade your system, you can choose when you are ready to upgrade.

Before you are able to upgrade you will need to read and acknowledge each of the statements on the alert by selecting the checkboxes next to them; this will enable the 'Upgrade' button in the bottom right-hand corner of the alert.
Please note: Once you upgrade your Footsteps system to the new EYFS 2021 guidance you will not be able to revert back to the old guidance.
When you click on the 'Upgrade' button all users of your system will be logged-out immediately. If you use our Footsteps tablet app you will need to update this before you are able to login again.

For more details about the changes you will notice after upgrading, please refer to Footsteps EYFS Changes
