System Configuration

System Configuration


The Configuration page is where you are able to set or change the system's default settings. The settings on this page enable you to customise the system to meet your needs.

To access the Configuration page, click/tap on the Settings page and then click/tap on the 'Set-up' button on the Configuration tile:



This will open the Configuration page:



The following options are available:

Observation Settings:
  1. Choose what is recorded as part of an observation. 
    By default the system will record Characteristics of Effective Learning and Leuven Scales of Wellbeing & Involvement.
    If you deselect either of these options, the corresponding sections of the Observation form will be hidden. Please be aware that if you choose not to record either Characteristics of Effective Learning or Leuven Scales then the CoEL report and the Wellbeing & Involvement report will not be available.

  2. The 'Automatically Suggest Next Steps' option will provide suggestions of what a child's next steps should be based on the EYFS development matters you have selected during an observation. 
    If you deselect this option you will have to manually select a child's next steps.
Report Settings:
  1. Choose what is included in the Learning Journey report and how the entries in the report are ordered. 
    By default the system will include the EYFS development matters that were selected for each observation and details of any next steps that were set; entries in the report will be ordered newest to oldest.
    If you deselect the option 'Show EYFS in Learning Journey Report' the report will no longer include the breakdown of EYFS development matters for each observation.
    If you deselect the option 'Show Next Steps in Learning Journey Report' the report will no longer include details of the next steps that were set for a child.
Assessment Settings:
  1. Choose how many text boxes are included for each EYFS area.
    By default there will be separate text boxes for each EYFS area and aspect.
    For example: 

    Show text boxes for Areas & Aspects:
    Show text boxes for Areas only
    Show text boxes for Aspects only

     


    EYFS Profile:
  2. Choose what is recorded as part of the assessment.
    By default the system will include the ability to record Early Learning Goals and Characteristics of Effective Learning.
    If you deselect the option 'Include Early Learning Goals' then you will not be able to assess a child's level in relation to these goals.
    If you deselect the option 'Include Characteristics of Effective Learning' then the corresponding section of the assessment will be hidden.

    2 Year Check:
  3. Choose what is recorded as part of the assessment.
    By default the Specific Areas section will not be included in the assessment; the Characteristics of Effective Learning will be included in the assessment.
    If you select the option 'Include the Specific EYFS Areas' an extra section will be added to the assessment to allow you to comment on a child's progress in Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts & Design.
    If you deselect the option 'Include Characteristics of Effective Learning' then the corresponding section of the assessment will be hidden.
Once you have finished making changes to these options, click/tap on the 'Save' button.
You can return to the Settings page by clicking/tapping on the 'Back' button at the top of the page, or by clicking/tapping on options underneath the Footsteps 2 section in the Portal menu on the left-hand side of your screen.
