Selecting Children for an Observation


There are two ways of selecting which child/children you wish to create an observation for:
  1. Via the Observations Menu page
  2. Via the Observations List page
To select children via the Observations Menu page, do the following:
  1.  Click/tap on the ‘Get started’ button on the Create Observation tile:



    This will open the ‘Create observation’ window:



  2. Scroll through the list of children and select the checkbox next to the child you wish to create an observation for; their name will appear as a tag in the field at the top of the window. 

    Alternatively, begin typing the name of a child in the ‘Search children’ field and click/tap on a child to select them for the observation; their name will appear as a tag in the field to show they have been selected. For example:



  3. Click/tap on the ‘Save’ button to load the observation form.

To select children via the Observations List page, do the following:
  1.  Click/tap on the ‘View’ button on the Recorded Observations tile on the Observations Menu page; this will open the Observations List page.



  2. Locate the required child by scrolling through the list or using the search tool.

  3. Click/tap on the  button at the end of the child’s row in the table to load the observation form.



    If you accidentally select the wrong child and the observation form has loaded, simply click/tap on the 'X' button in the top right-hand corner of the form and choose the 'Don't Save' option.

To create a group observation, repeat steps 1 & 2 above and do the following:
  1.  Select the checkbox next to each child you wish to create an observation for.

  2. When you select the next child a footer will pop-up at the bottom of your screen with a ‘Create Group Observation' button.

  3.  Continue selecting the checkboxes of all required children and then click/tap on the ‘Create Group Observation’ button to load the group observation form.



    If you accidentally select the wrong child either click/tap again on their checkbox to deselect them, or click/tap on the 'Cancel' button in the footer at the bottom of your screen to deselect all children.
