The Observations section in Abacus allows you to record anything you have noticed about a child, such as if they have arrived with an existing injury, if you have noticed any changes in their behaviour, or if their relationship with a parent or carer is different to normal.
To record an observation, do the following:
- Click on the Children button and select 'Child Summary':
- Click on the 'Misc. Details' tab and then select 'Observations' from the dropdown list:
- Click on the 'Add' button to activate the fields on the form.
- Enter details of the observation.
- Click on the 'Save' button to log the observation.
- The observation will be added to the child's record:
- You can view the full details of an observation by clicking on the 'Details' button
- You can also print details of the observations logged for a child by clicking on the 'Print' button
To edit an observation, do the following:
- Locate the required child and click on the Misc. Details tab, then select 'Observations' from the dropdown list.
- Click on the 'Details' button for the observation you wish to edit.
- Details of the observation will be displayed in the form below. For example:
- Make your changes and click on the 'Update' button.
To delete an observation, do the following:
- Repeat steps 1 - 3 above.
- Click on the 'Delete' button.
