Observations

Observations


The Observations section in Abacus allows you to record anything you have noticed about a child, such as if they have arrived with an existing injury, if you have noticed any changes in their behaviour, or if their relationship with a parent or carer is different to normal.

To record an observation, do the following: 
  1.  Click on the Children button and select 'Child Summary':



  2.  Click on the 'Misc. Details' tab and then select 'Observations' from the dropdown list:



  3.  Click on the 'Add'  button to activate the fields on the form.
  4.  Enter details of the observation.


  5.  Click on the 'Save' button to log the observation.
  6.  The observation will be added to the child's record:



  7.  You can view the full details of an observation by clicking on the 'Details' button 
  8.  You can also print details of the observations logged for a child by clicking on the 'Print' button 

To edit an observation, do the following:
  1.  Locate the required child and click on the Misc. Details tab, then select 'Observations' from the dropdown list.
  2.  Click on the 'Details' button  for the observation you wish to edit.



  3.  Details of the observation will be displayed in the form below. For example:



  4.  Make your changes and click on the 'Update' button.
To delete an observation, do the following:
  1.  Repeat steps 1 - 3 above.
  2.  Click on the 'Delete' button.
