Completing Next Steps

Completing Next Steps

The core function of the Next Steps page is focused on converting next steps into observations. You will be able to complete next steps for either an individual child or a group of children. Multiple next steps can be selected and completed in a single observation.

To complete a next step for an individual child, do the following:
  1.  Click/tap on the next step you wish to complete and click/tap on the 'Use Next Steps' button at the bottom of the screen:

Alternatively, click/tap on the Options button  and select the 'Use in Observation' option:

  2.  The Observation form will be displayed, automatically populated with the details from the next step.
  3.  Add to or amend these details in the same way as you would when creating an observation and then complete the observation.
  4.  Once you have 'used' a next step by converting it into an observation it will no longer be listed on the Next Steps page.
If you select a next step which was created as part of a group observation, an alert will be displayed asking whether you would like to include the other children that were part of the original group observation or not:

If you click/tap on the 'Include' button the system will automatically select the next step for all other children included in the original group observation and display the Group Observation form. The form will be populated with details from the selected next steps.
If you click/tap on the 'Don't Include' button the system will display the Observation form for the child you selected. The same next step for the other children will remain on the Next Steps page to be completed at another time.
If you click/tap on the 'Cancel' button the alert will close and you will remain on the Next Steps page.

To complete multiple next steps in a single observation, do the following:
  1.  Click/tap on the checkboxes for all of the next steps you wish to complete and click/tap on the 'Use Next Steps' button at the bottom of the screen.
  2.  The Observation form will be displayed, automatically populated with the details from all selected next steps.
  3.  Add to or amend these details in the same way as you would when creating an observation and then complete the observation.
  4.  These next steps will no longer be listed on the Next Steps page.

If you select next steps for different children and click/tap on the 'Use Next Steps' button, the Group Observation form will be displayed instead.
